Hutchinson recollections and accusations were solely based on office gossip and hearsay
In Paul Collins’ “special” column to The Sunday Telegraph on July 10, 2022 praising former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, I was waiting with bated breath to read about his nomination for her to Sainthood.
I was disappointed, however, that Mr. Collins dedicated a half page of this newspaper to meanderings about hearsay, office hallway gossip, personal opinion, and snippets of conversations among other people about what she, Ms. Hutchinson, thinks she overheard. Not one fact. Not one.
For the uninformed – and uninterested – Cassidy Hutchinson was an aide/secretary in the Trump White House and her 15 minutes of fame began and ended with her “star turn” in front of the Democrat-led January 6th congressional committee hearing. Mr. Collins calls it “bipartisan”.
However, the only two Republicans on the committee, were both hand-picked by Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi because of their demonstrated hatred for Donald Trump. Since the principle aim of this committee is to bring down President Donald Trump, they cannot be impartial. Hence, it is not a fair and balanced bipartisan committee.
That being said, let us take a closer look at the lives of aides, executive assistants, and secretaries in the White House, of which Ms. Hutchinson was one of many such employees. Working in the White House is a dream job even for the lowliest positions. There are multiple aides working in the same office. The work itself is not dissimilar to that of administrative work in a corporate office except, obviously, for the surroundings. It is exciting for everyone. Most people are loyal to the company they work for. Others may not feel loyal because they don’t like their boss or don’t like what the company stands for, but they continue to stay and do their job for their own reasons.
The operative word for working in the White House is: status! With that, comes opportunities to make even more money with lucrative lobbying and media contracts after you leave the White House. Just ask the three former Trump WH staffers who now have contracts with CNN, MSNBC, and The View to name a few.
I laugh when people say, “but these women worked for Trump and were Trump supporters.” As I stated above, just because you work for someone – even the president – doesn’t mean you are a loyal supporter. In the case of these White House staffers, it was all about the status and what they could eventually get out of it for themselves. Their subsequent actions and media contracts prove that.
Getting back to the glorious personification of Ms. Hutchinson as described by Mr. Collins. It was incredibly stunning to me that anyone could devote as much time and space in a newspaper to describe Ms. Hutchinson as courageous, brave, a hero, and with “rock solid credibility” all based on absolutely nothing! No facts! Her recollections and accusations were solely based on office gossip and hearsay and overheard bits of conversations that she was not even part of.
Remember the handwritten note intended for the President to release to his supporters? Ms. Hutchinson claimed to have written it during her testimony to the J6 committee. It was subsequently, and solidly refuted and proved, by former WH lawyer Eric Herschmann that, in fact, HE had written the note. Where is Ms. Hutchinson’s credibility on that one?
Remember the ridiculous story Ms. Hutchinson told the J6 panel that secret service agents told her that President Trump had attacked an agent and tried to grab the wheel of the presidential limo called “The Beast”? That story was unequivocally refuted by several secret service agents who all offered to testify under oath that it did NOT happen. First, secret service agents do not gossip with office admins. Second, President Trump was not in The Beast that day. Third, even if he was, it was impossible for anyone to go through the barrier between the back seat and the front seat to get to the driver. Where is Ms. Hutchinson’s credibility on that one? Oh, and the J6 committee have ignored the request of the Secret Service agents to give their testimony. What a surprise!
Mr. Collins apparently has taken the path of partisanship in his journalistic hit piece against President Trump. That is unfortunate. The only thing his column does is give his own personal credence and justification to the antics of the J6 committee based on innuendo and unfounded accusations.
Readers deserve better than that.
Readers deserve the truth.
