JUNE 12, 1956: “The Bellavance Eskimos copped their third win of the season, tripping the Red Sox, 9-3, in a Little League game at the Amherst St. Field last night.

“The winning pitcher was R. Beaupre, who allowed six Red Sox hits while striking out six and walking five. Fair went the distance for the losers.”

Please note: First names were not considered vital for game reports way back when.

JUNE 13, 1961: “Bob Bazin’s Team No. 7 has widened its lead in the race for the Nashua Country Club Twilight Golf League first-half championship. The aggregation reached the 92-1/2-point mark last night and holds a 4-1/2-point advantage over Benny Bernard’s Team No. 1.”

JUNE 14, 1966: “Nashua was well represented at the 10th annual National Wheelchair Games at Jackson Heights, Long Island from June 10-12.

Members of the ream included Marilyn Woods and Fro Kolocotronis, both of Nashua; Tom O’Brien, Peabody, Mass.; and John Ames, Dave Brownell, John Rahmlow, Jerry Simino, Harold Turbazille, and Dick VanDasi, all of the Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, Greenfield.”

JUNE 15, 1976: “The Nashua A’s baseball team posted a big victory yesterday by defeating the Jutras Post of Manchester, 14-8, recently.

“The game was sparked by the brilliant pitching of Bob Lajoie, who went all nine innings for the A’s. Mark Curran’s smash over the left-center field fence with two on in the sixth was the catalyst for the A’s offense.”

JUNE 16, 1981: “The Nashua High School track will be named in honor of former coach Francis Tate at dedication ceremonies Sunday at 2 p.m. during the statewide decathlon and heptathlon.

“Fran Tate has a record achievement of developing many Nashua High winter and spring championship teams and initiating the state decathlon in 1957.”

JUNE 17, 1991: “Dan Greene pitched a five-hit shutout Sunday as Nashua’s Coffey Post American Legion baseball team beat Pelham, 3-1, in its district opener.

“Green went the entire nine innings, allowing five hits while striking out 13 and walking one.”

JUNE 18, 1996: “Hudson Post 48 opened its District B season Sunday with a 10-2 win at Lebanon. Adam Perkins threw a complete game for Hudson, scattering six hits and striking out seven.

“Tim Hatcher was just one double away from hitting for the cycle. He drove in five runs with his home run, triple and a single.”
