Who’s Don Bolduc?
Isn’t it interesting that since the New Hampshire Primary, GOP-sponsored ads portray Sen. Maggie Hassan with creepy music and voice-overs, but her opponent for the US Senate seat is never mentioned? Usually, the person you’re supporting is at least worth
naming.
The GOP doesn’t want to talk about their candidate, but here’s some information: his name is Don Bolduc. He had a distinguished military career, but has troubling political positions. Until his primary win, he supported the Big Lie that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen. Now he’s waffling, but he still stands firmly with the radicalized Republicans.
As Sen. Rosenwald pointed out last weekend, Bolduc wants to dismantle Social Security and Medicare – programs that have helped generations of older Americans live with dignity. There’s much more, though. According to his own statements, available last week on www.idsidewith.com, he supports the overturning of Roe v. Wade and wants a nationwide abortion ban. He supports taking away adoption and marriage rights for same-sex couples. He supports budget-busting school vouchers. He opposes even the most common-sense measures to help combat climate change and America’s gun violence epidemic. He even supports allowing the federal government to deploy the military against peaceful protesters, as we’re seeing in Russia and Iran.
Now Bolduc can’t decide whether to cancel his own extremist history. His answers to the www.idsidewith.com questionnaire have suddenly vanished, and he recently told a Fox News interviewer he’d decided the 2020 election was legitimate, after all. Now just this week, he told a Hudson Town Hall meeting he hasn’t quite made up his mind about that. As usual, Governor Sununu is risking serious flip-flopping injuries; he can’t decide whether Bolduc is a “dangerous conspiracy theorist” (pre-Primary) or “an amazing individual” (post-Primary).
Senator Hassan is a Democratic centrist I don’t always agree with, but there is no question that she’s devoted to responsible governance, public education, personal liberty – including reproductive rights and marriage equality- and our First Amendment rights. The GOP has been taken over by the radical right and its enablers. To protect our schools, our environment, and our personal freedom, we must vote Blue on Nov. 8, from the bottom of the ballot all the way to the top.
