‘Sununu’s successful gig’

By James M. Coull - Amherst | May 7, 2022

I must respond to William F. Klessen’s letter in The Telegraph as titled above. It is obvious that he has a bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). In the past two issues of The Telegraph, he has written about Trump and Republicans in a most demeaning manner. But he neglects to raise any issues about the current occupant of the White House.

For example, when Donald Trump left office in January 2021, the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $2.39 and, in fact, during March 2020, gas prices fell below $2 for the first time in four years. So, we went from energy independence under Trump to buying oil from Russia and OPEC, and Joe Biden’s even talking about buying oil from Venezuela. This, when we have more proven oil and gas reserves than all the other oil producing nations combined. Now we pay on average $4.13 per gallon, thanks to the Biden war on domestic energy policies.

Inflation under Trump averaged 2.29%, and the recent CPI has inflation under Biden at 8.5% and no sign of it getting better. Back to the Jimmy Carter days of stagflation.

Under the four years of Donald J. Trump not one American serviceman or woman was killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan, but we had the unfortunate experience of watching 13 come home in body bags under Biden. How about the spectacle of the leader of the free world being rescued by the Easter bunny at the recent White House egg roll? Pathetic! I firmly believe Mr. Klessens will have more to be unhappy about when the midterms roll around and Joe Biden’s 33% approval rating brings Republicans back in charge of the House, and likely the Senate. Won’t that be fun?
