Importance of vigil volunteers
Thank you for the chance to let our community know about the need for hospice volunteers, especially Vigil Volunteers. Amedisys Hospice Vigil Volunteers provide presence, comfort and companionship to dying patients, (approximately 24-48 hours of life), who otherwise might not have someone there with them during their last hours.
Amedisys Hospice of Bedford, NH is looking for special people who have a passion for caring for others and who would like to support those nearing end of life. As part of the Amedisys Hospice volunteer program, vigil volunteers attend trainings so that they can better support patients and their families. Training is free, and in person or online. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to enrich their lives by helping a person feel supported during their end of life journey.
The need is greater than you can imagine. If you are interested in doing something worthwhile and you have one free hour a week, please contact Patty Cooper at Amedisys Hospice at 603-421-0414 or patricia.cooper@amedisys.com.
