Support Tim Finan
Tim Finan is a candidate for Selectman in Milford and he has the experience and the attitude to be a great Select Board Member. With regards to experience, he has perhaps the most complete service background for the position out of anyone in town since he has effectively served in so many different roles over the past couple of decades. He has been a two-term Selectman and a long-term Planning Board member. At various times he has served on the Capital Improvements Committee, the Recreation Committee, the Granite Town Media Advisory Committee, the Budget Advisory Committee, and many more.
With regards to attitude, he carefully considers all sides of an issue in order to come to a good decision as to what should be supported rather than basing his support on a particular ideology. He tries to figure out what is best for the town as a whole rather than what is best for one particular constituency. He is fiscally prudent, but he is willing to support spending on something if it makes sense to do so. He is not an automatic no-vote on spending like another candidate. For example, he supports the warrant articles for library HVAC repair, the town operating budget, the fire rescue truck replacement, and the 10-year lease for communications equipment tower siting, where each of these articles are significant and important long-term initiatives for the town. This compares to the incumbent in the position (Chris Labonte) who is against all of them.
Tim Finan has the institutional knowledge to be a solid contributing member of the board right at the start of his term. He will be a moderating influence that will focus on coming to a rational compromise between the competing needs of low property taxes and desired services.
