Stevens seeking library trustee post
The Library is a crown jewel of our town, and I want to be an advocate for growing its collection and remaining a welcoming place for learning, critical thinking and intellectual growth. I also want to help the library increase its private and grant funding. As inflation continues to grow there will be increasing demands on the town’s services, and it’s important that the library has the resources it needs to serve the community.
I’ve lived in Bedford for about a decade, and am proud to be raising my kids here.
Before moving to Bedford, I served in government for nearly 10 years, including seven years as a spokesperson for two U.S. cabinet secretaries and a U.S. surgeon general. In those roles, it was critical to get information out to the media and the public in a straightforward, cogent, trustworthy and fact-based way.
My colleagues and I worked through 9/11 and the Anthrax attacks. I also witnessed global health challenges like AIDS, malnutrition, and even Polio – and what the U.S. is doing to help combat them. And when I moved from the HHS to the Department of Energy, I advocated for nuclear energy, renewable energy technology, our nation’s energy resources, and energy transmission and transportation sectors.
Now, along with my partners, I own a small business that employees nearly 100 people directly, and dozens of other contractors. I understand the importance of maintaining a budget, having a vision, and treating people with decency and respect.
I’m proud to be running a serious campaign for trustee, and I will bring that same commitment to the library board, if elected. Please vote for me for library trustee on March 8.
