I hope for 2022, for the American people, that instead of growing weary of the war of words between the left and the right, that we instead become more wary of the false narratives, misinformation, and outright fairy tales from right wing culture warriors such as Mr. James A. Betti, in his guest editorial Jan. 8, (Bill O’Reilly is Right America Has a Huge Problem). Mr. Betti left out one salient piece of information, that is O’Reilly was dropped from Fox because of the sexual harassment suit by six women against him, which cost Fox millions in settlement. It was O’Reilly’s own words and deeds that got him in trouble and then bounced from Fox.

It used to be that political discourse meant providing the reader with evidence, facts, and reason, to support one’s stand, but Mr. Betti substitutes ad hominem for civil discourse calling those in the progressive movement “sociopaths”, and accusing them of violence and anarchy, and of course he says that they hate America. A review of the facts shows the extent that Mr. Betti has distorted the truth.

The overwhelming majority of BLM protests across America have been peaceful. BLM is calling for equal justice under the law, not for anarchy, as Mr. Betti claims. Anarchy instead encourages that people tear down the institutions. BLM wants change in our institutions, not their destruction, so that people of color are given equal treatment under the law, if they tear down the institutions, they cannot achieve equality under the law.

If New Hampshire residents want to look for people who hate America, they should start by looking in their state legislative body, there are seven libertarians who despise America so much that they have petitioned for a constitutional amendment for New Hampshire’s secession from the US. Imagine what New Hampshire’s Civil War veterans would have thought about this?

Mr. Betti’s silly accusation that those who disagree with him need mental health treatment is as pathetic as the old Soviet communist policies, where they arrested the political opposition and put them in “re-education” camps. Propagandists like Mr. Betti leave out important facts. Mr. Betti talked about domestic violence as a threat to America and yet not once did he mention the terrorist attack on the US Capitol by right-wing Trump supporters on Jan. 6, 2021 who tried to create anarchy and chaos to illegally place Trump at the head of our government.

The real threat to our freedom is from the right not the left, and the events of January 6, 2021 prove this, the real huge problem America has is that we should all be wary of the false narratives of right wing culture warriors such as Mr. Betti.
