Lead our city

By Raymond Guarino - Nashua | Nov 13, 2021

Di Lothrop vice-chair of the Nashua GOP said in her guest editorial of Nov. 6, 2021, that “our voices will not be stifled”, as if anyone can avoid the shrill, obnoxious, hullabaloo emanating from the not so grand-old “Republican” party in the City of Nashua. How can we not help but hear their incoherent racket when their ballot candidates disrupted BOE meetings with their yelling and their other GOP candidates for city office had public melt downs at city hall?

Despite that our local elections are supposed to be non-partisan, it did not stop the Republicans from displaying a giant “vote Republican” sign at Ward 7 on election day, nor does it stop Lothrop from bragging about Republican Party “gains” from the election. A review of Lothrop’s braggadocio shows her crowing about Republicans gaining two of the nine ward contests from incumbents and zero of the at large aldermanic contests. That’s a batting average of under 200. Maybe you ruined the other team’s no-hitter with a couple of singles?

And how did the GOP line-up do at the BOE contests? They batted zero, all four Board of Education seats went to the opposition party. Maybe the GOP should choose better candidates who are more skilled at expressing their ideas other than using their middle fingers? Lothrop goes on in her rant about city leaders being “corrupt” without the least bit of evidence and based solely on her personal delusions. She goes on to say that she is “proud” of the so many Republican non-winners and gives them a well-deserved participation trophy. Congratulations Nashua Republican City Committee, you showed up, now that the election is done, it’s time again for the adults in the room to lead our city.
