Kindness
This letter is to acknowledge the kindness of a stranger who found a medal that I had lost off my keychain somewhere in Nashua, and returned it to me. The medal commemorated a long-ago accomplishment by my recently deceased husband, who in 1996 was given the medal, which is inscribed: “1996 Mt. Washington Hillclimb 3rd Grandmaster. My husband’s name, Richard Deshaies is nowhere on the medal. As best as I can figure it, this stranger researched who this medal might have been given to, (not any easy thing to do; I had trouble researching it), then more research to learn info on his passing, including survivors. Then, most important to me, this stranger, having a sense of what the medal might mean to me, dropped it off at the reception desk of the retirement community where I live, declining to give his name. No matter, I am profoundly grateful.
