Melizzi-Golja for Fire Commission

By Mary Ann Melizzi-Golja - Nashua | Oct 23, 2021

The leaves are falling, along with the temperature – Election Day is approaching!

I am running for a four-year position on the Nashua Fire Commission and asking for your vote.

Typically, I would be knocking on your door, but with the continued concerns related to COVID-19, I have decided to not go door-to-door this year.

As an alderwoman, I was responsible for reviewing the Nashua Fire Department’s budget, and participated in discussions regarding response times, the purchasing of equipment, including training equipment for our firefighters, and improvements to fire stations. In addition, as the alderwoman from Ward 8, I worked with the Fire Marshal’s Office and Community Development to update the city’s blasting code to provide greater protection for property owners when blasting is required for a building project.

I also served as the liaison from the Board of Aldermen to the Fire Commission, which provided an opportunity to be more directly involved in discussions at the commission’s meetings.

In the coming months, the Fire Commission will be updating its Strategic Plan. If elected to serve as a commissioner, I will continue to make your protection and safety and the safety of our firefighters a priority as decisions are made related to buildings, services, equipment and budgets.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
