Why is the U.S. behind?
The U.S. is a world leader especially when it comes to medical advances. There are a significant population in the U.S. who are opposed to the relationship between the fetal cell lines used in the research of the 3 approved vaccines available in the U.S.
There are other vaccines that have no relationship to fetal cell lines, namely Canada’s Medigo vaccine is plant based; France & Israel’s vaccines in development use cells of the vero monkey; and Germany, Japan and India’s vaccines in phases 2 & 3 do not use fetal cell lines. In the U.S. there are 2 non-fetal cell line vaccines in development & both are only in the preclinical phase (John Paul II Medical Research Institute and Sorrento.)
Since there is a significant U.S. population who are morally opposed to fetal cell research and there are non-fetal cell line vaccines that show promise, why is the US so far behind in this research that can greatly decrease the illness and death from COVID-19? Is there a link between this lack of research and the multiple patents the federal government has filed for their part in the development of the mRNA vaccines we have available?
We have done extraordinarily well in developing vaccines quickly that have been distributed to many; we need to develop other promising vaccines that do not require our citizens to choose between their moral beliefs and their health.
