I have been watching CNN’s coverage of the catastrophic collapse of the condominium building in Florida.

I watched the news conference with all of the officials involved in this catastrophic event the Mayor, Governor, fire department and other agencies that are involved in the search and rescue effort. They all gave what information they had to the citizens of this country. As I listened to the press conference whenever one of the officials spoke in English and then made the same comments in Spanish the correspondent for CNN left the press conference until another English speaking official spoke. This happened with every official of Spanish origin that spoke.

Does CNN not know that Spanish is the second language of this country? They deserve the same treatment as any other citizen of this country. What if some Spanish-speaking citizens of this country only get their news from CNN? I do not know if other news outlets did the same.

Everyone talks about the systemic racism in this country, some say it does not exist to me this is a perfect example that it does exist and everyone needs to face up to this fact and change it or at least make an effort to change it, because it does exist. I do not speak Spanish, but I would have listened.
