Invest in green infrastructure

By Sandra Braasch - Nashua | Jun 12, 2021

In New Hampshire, we no longer have the time to spare in fighting climate change. Fortunately, President Biden’s American Jobs Plan presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to both protect our environment and invest in the future.

The White House’s proposal calls on Congress to allocate $100 million to modernize power generation and deliver clean energy across the country in the hopes of achieving 100% carbon-free electricity by 2035 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

This is a bold agenda, but one that is much needed as the effects of climate change become more apparent each passing day. As these effects ramp up in the coming years, we will need to plan accordingly so that our state is in the best position to both mitigate and adjust to these climate impacts.

Beyond protecting our environment and our wallets, clean energy initiatives also provide thousands of employment opportunities across many different sectors. They also can span counties, meaning that multiple communities can benefit from the same project and receive much-needed economic stimulus.

Promoting green infrastructure in New Hampshire will be key to not just our environment, but the future of our state. It is imperative that we invest in such projects.
