The problem as I see it, follow-up

By Michelle Hoy - Wilton | May 22, 2021

On Sunday, January 24, 2021, a letter-to-the-editor, penned by me, was published in the Sunday Telegraph. At the same time that I submitted the letter to the newspaper, I sent copies of it to all of my State and Federal elected officials.

Since then, I have received two responses, one from Anne McLane Kuster and another, 4 months later, from Jeanne Shaheen. The responses from each of these women was disappointing at best. Both of them chose to see my concerns as whining from an election-integrity conspiracy theorist. They each lectured me on my unfounded and unreasonable beliefs that there was any possibility of election fraud. They made no mention of my pleas to them to represent ALL New Hampshire residents, not just those of their own political party, and to protect our Republic. Since then, the lawmakers in the Federal Government have proved EVERY concern I expressed in my previous letter to the editor.

I feel that this should be made known to the people of New Hampshire, so I am writing, here, again, in the hope that airing the behavior of these legislators will guide New Hampshire residents to not trust such individuals to represent them in the future. Below is what I wrote to Anne McLane Kuster and Jeanne Shaneen in response to their letters. Unfortunately, they chose to communicate with me from an email address that cannot be responded to, so they may never see my response.

I am saddened by your response. It shows that you didn’t even read my letter to you. Your response was clearly an attempt to push rhetoric, which shows that you intend to completely ignore my message.

My message was not about election integrity. It was about the dangerous division that exists in our country. It was a plea for legislators to govern all their constituents fairly, considering the desires of everyone in a country that is divided close to 50/50. It was advice, from one whom you represent, for you to consider the opinions of 100% of your constituents and to do what you can to unite our country, bring trust between the 2 groups, and ease the fears of those who are not in power at this time.

I spoke of the BELIEF, that roughly 50% of Americans hold, that there was a lack of election integrity and of their BELIEF that they are about to be subjugated. I made suggestions as to how you can work to ease those fears and bring about trust and healing.

Instead of listening to this advice, you choose to push a narrative and drive on in a direction that is even more divisive. Your response to my letter and your actions in Washington D.C. prove that the fears that exist in the hearts of close to half of Americans are valid.

All Americans should be afraid of elected officials like you who legislate along party lines, not considering what they do, even if it ignores 50% of their constituents, EVEN if it ends in the destruction of our Republic.

Shame on you.
