Thomas right for the moment

By Brandon Latham - Merrimack | Apr 10, 2021

I have lived in Merrimack all of my life, and for most of that time, I have felt a close connection to my neighbors and classmates. To the town’s leaders and policymakers, not as much. As an MYA kid, I think the head umpire was the highest local public official I could pick out of a crowd. Then, two years ago, I met Wendy Thomas.

State representatives and other Merrimack leaders had been distant and slightly intimidating figures, I thought. Not Wendy. As soon as she got elected, she got to work representing every single one of us, with kindness and focus. She organized political advocacy and community demonstration around our drinking water contamination issue. She spearheaded forward-thinking legislation pertaining to Lyme disease. She worked very closely with leadership on both sides of the aisle to guarantee Merrimack would have the voice in Concord that we deserve.

More than a great legislator, which she is, Wendy is a great person. Merrimack can be the town where neighbors wave to one another. Wendy does, every day, sign in hand for a busload of our students. Merrimack will benefit greatly from her talents as a legislator. We’ll benefit doubly from her spirit and the sense of community she inspires. Another far-off official won’t do. I prefer a Wendy Thomas. She’s an educator, a military mom, and a fighter. Please vote on April 13.
