We need Wendy Thomas

By Peter Petrigno - Milford | Mar 27, 2021

Merrimack voters, I respectfully ask you to consider voting for Wendy Thomas for State Representative in the special election on April 13.

I first came to know Wendy when her children were enrolled in my classes at Merrimack High School where I served as the social studies department head for 17 years. Shortly after my retirement, Wendy and I were both elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Although I represent Milford, I have worked closely with Wendy and Merrimack’s other representatives in part due to my close affinity for the town.

What has impressed me most about Wendy is her serious commitment on behalf of her constituents as well as for all within our state. Her call to public service is not surprising as three generations of her family have served our country in the military and she has personally witnessed the struggles of her loved ones with PTSD.

While in the Legislature, Wendy was a force for positive change. As one of Merrimack’s “Water Warriors” she fought hard to keep her community and the state safe from PFAS contaminated water. Additionally, where others had failed over the years, she along with Merrimack’s other Democratic elected officials, finally got rid of the Exit 11 toll.

Wendy has been a champion for social justice and progressive reform. Frankly, we need Wendy to help push back against new regressive legislation, the result of the Republican’s narrow majority after the last election.

I encourage you to vote Thomas on April 13.
