Not for the people

By Britt Skinner - Newton | Mar 6, 2021

H.R.1 is referred to as the “For the People Act of 2021”, but it is not. It claims to “expand” Americans’ access to the ballot box supposedly to “fortify our democracy”. It may shock you to learn this bill does the opposite, leaving more room for fraud.

H.R.1 would constitute a federal takeover of elections by ignoring state election laws, making fraud, corruption and abuse that much easier. The U.S. Constitution dictates states are responsible for the administration of both federal elections and their own, not the federal government.

This heinous legislation would force states to implement early voting, automatic voter registration, same-day registration, online voter registration and no-fault absentee balloting. Same-day registration strips election officials of time to verify the accuracy of voter information and ability to anticipate the number of voters and required resources – chaos! This monstrosity would delegitimize registration lists by automatically registering large numbers of ineligible voters, including aliens, and duplicating registrations. Online voter registration would spur massive registration fraud. Counties would be mandated to count ballots cast outside their precinct and mandate no-fault absentee ballots, delighting vote thieves. By allowing individuals to vote without an ID, election officials would be barred from verifying voter eligibility.

H.R. 1 would violate the First Amendment. Intimidation or coercion that prevents someone from voting is already a federal crime under the Voting Rights Act, but H.R. 1 adds an additional provision that is so vague it could easily interfere with free speech and other lawful activity. It would expand government censorship of political activity and speech, including online and policy-related speech. H.R. 1 imposes onerous compliance burdens and costs on many including candidates, citizens and nonprofit organizations while decimating the First Amendment. It would force states to restore the ability of felons to vote; the 14th Amendment grants states this authority – not federal government.

Every American citizen, regardless of party, should be appalled by the Federal government’s overreach and intermeddling with the states’ election processes. Don’t let the federal government pillage your rights and destroy the time-proven American election process which our Founders so cleverly designed in order to form a more perfect Union.

H.R.1 is not for us, but for THEM. Act now! Find your house and senate representatives via www.govtrack.us. Election integrity is important to each of us – join me in emailing & calling your representatives today to say no to H.R.1!
