Feltes will fix school funding

By Rep. David Luneau, Hopkinton, Rep. Mel Myler, Contoocook - | Oct 31, 2020

There’s only one candidate for governor who has demonstrated a commitment to fund public schools, and that’s Dan Feltes. As a senator, Feltes led the effort to increase the state’s funding of public schools by nearly $150 million. And he made sure to direct the funds to the cities and towns with the highest needs. When given the chance to do something about it in his proposed budget, Gov. Sununu did nothing. And now Sununu wants to take it all away. Sununu fails to recognize the pain Granite Staters feel when it comes to property taxes, and he just doesn’t see how it has eroded public support for public education. In fact, Sununu is so blind to the connection between property taxes and school funding that he proposed to use public money to pay for private school tuition rather than support our public schools which are among the best in the country. We have a lot to be proud about when it comes to public education in New Hampshire, but Sununu has decided to look the other way. Feltes has demonstrated his commitment to our public schools and is the only candidate who will fix the inequities for students and taxpayers.
