After many years serving teaching graduate school and in ordained ministry I was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2016. As an avid “people watcher,” I started sizing up my new colleagues.

One person, also a first-term legislator, stood out: Steve Negron.

As I both talked with him and watched him interact with others it was apparent Steve possessed that rare combination of accomplishment and graciousness.

There was no doubt he could get things done as his career in the military and in business demonstrated. But while getting things done in Concord, he was kind. He cared for people whether they agreed with him or not. He would listen. You could trust his word.
