Another day, another tax

By David Rivers - Thornton | Oct 10, 2020

It’s highly likely your New Hampshire State Rep is voting against your wishes. For example: Virtually every Democrat State Rep in the NH House voted in favor of HB1 which would take much more of your money to support the bill’s proposed 13% increase in state spending; a massive $1.5 Billion Dollars!

Take a look at what else these Tax & Spend Democrats recently VOTED FOR:

• Creating an income tax with rates set by an unelected bureaucrat. (HB712 & SB1)

(They say it’s not an income tax but, but it taxes employee’s wages or their company.)

• Creating a new tax on capital gains. (HB686)

• Raising business taxes. (HB623)

• Permitting bureaucrats to raise taxes on electricity without legislative oversight and approval. (HB166, SB205)

• Increasing by 40% a surcharge on registry of deed users supporting an unrelated program (SB74)

• Doubling and tripling various fees. (HB682)

• Unfunded mandate raising towns’ and schools’ retirement costs. (HB616)

• Requiring utilities to buy more Renewable Energy Certificates raising costs for all NH consumers. (SB72)

With a few exceptions most all Democrats in the NH House VOTED AGAINST:

• Reducing the statewide property tax. (HB497-0113h)

• Reducing the interest & dividends tax. (HB185)

• Reducing electric rates by allowing more use of methane as a fuel. (HB157)

• Reducing electric rates, distributing all proceeds from RGGI sales to ratepayers. (HB477)

• Prohibiting an income tax. (CACR12)

• Replace a mandatory family leave plan funded by an income tax with a voluntarily funded plan. (HB2-1435h)

If your current State Rep is a Democrat it is highly likely they voted for all the above tax and spend proposals, and against the tax limiting proposals.

New Hampshire is well known and envied as a low tax state. In fact New Hampshire is ranked No. 2 overall in the latest Best States Study from U.S. News & World Report. This study among other things considers taxes and the overall health of the State’s economy. If it were not for the veto power of our Republican Governor my bet is that NH would have lost its enviable number two position in this prestigious ranking. I can safely say it seems to me that these traditional tax & spend Democrats could care less as to how New Hampshire places in any quality of life poll.

I can only guess what the heck these people are thinking. I can tell you this…they are not thinking like frugal Granite Staters of the past. We need to return New Hampshire back onto a path of fiscal conservatism. Balance our budget, stop increasing existing fees and taxes, stop inventing new ones.

Vote Republican. Put New Hampshire back on the right path.
