I will continue advocating for you

By Melanie Levesque - State Senator, District 12 | Oct 3, 2020

As the Senator for District 12, I have the honor of representing New Hampshire towns from Nashua to Rindge and the five towns between. Partly due to geographic differences, the district has a diverse set of needs, but we do, however, share so much in common. A desire to provide a quality education to our children, addressing substance misuse disorder, renewable energy and battling the pandemic. In my first term, I’ve worked tirelessly to address these issues, often working across the aisle to get things done for my constituents. Although we’ve made great progress, we still have much work to do.

In the senate, for the first time in over 20 years, we fully funded education, giving towns much needed municipal aid and Medicaid payments for our schools. We did all of this without adding any new taxes, and in fact, led to a reduction in property taxes.

During the pandemic, I worked with constituents and businesses to help them navigate Unemployment Insurance, SNAP benefits, and eviction prevention, while advocating for CARES Act funding for public schools and colleges. We proposed Paid Family Medical Leave that allows for time off to care for a family member or extend maternity leave.

This has been a turbulent time in our nation. We’ve faced tough challenges before and always managed to persevere. With strong leadership, that puts people over politics, we will get through this. I am excited to continue serving the people of District 12 in Concord and ask for your vote on November 3.
