Few-to-no solutions

By Timothy C. Tiches - Nashua | Sep 12, 2020

I would accept Mr. Guarino’s reprimand for my article opining that “systemic racism” is a Democrat Party election ploy if he had proven my premise-to-conclusion argument was flawed. Recall, that I used several Democrat Party crusades ultimately proven untrue as the rationale against the Party’s mantra of systemic racism. I was petitioning against a major Democrat Party movement rather than my stance on systemic racism. I showed two consuming Democrat campaigns (Russian collusion and Impeachment) were against reason, and therefore, concluded that the Democrat Party politics about systemic racism is also contrary to reason. Mr. Guarino changed the subject (a popular Democrat ruse) and avoided addressing my premise entirely and leaped to a more profound conclusion.

The other Democrat belief I used related to Trump’s mishandling of the Pandemic is also debatable especially since it’s being espoused as a major part of this general election campaign. It’s consequential that the number of Covid-19 deaths continues to decrease even though there’s no vaccine. Maybe the decrease is due in part to the replenishment, distribution, and use of PPE stockpiles and the discovery of new therapeutics that were non-existent when the virus arrived. It’s also hard to subscribe to mismanagement when a vaccine is being developed years ahead of the norm because Trump removed most reasons for delay, but that’s politics, isn’t it? If there’s no guarantee that deaths will be completely eliminated after the vaccine is available, Trump will be blamed again.

I agree with Mr. Guarino that I provided no proof that systemic racism didn’t exist, but that’s not what I claimed. Had I wanted to debate systemic racism, I would’ve used contemporary data, not historical data like Mr. Guarino used to debunk what he thought my claim was. I don’t use systemic racism as a proxy for individual racism and discrimination which is a world-wide phenomenon that can’t be eliminated. And any proof of racism by a law enforcement official doesn’t extrapolate to systemic racism in that or other institutions. Our country’s beliefs of the past don’t necessarily reflect what we generally believe today. I condemn white supremacists’ and anti-fascists’ beliefs, but their rights must be protected equally under the law. Commendably, city authorities approved both to demonstrate in Charlottesville. Initially antifa confronted supremacists there not vice versa.

I’m not afraid to admit there’s a problem nor when I’ve assumed more than is merited. But I don’t need anyone telling me that I’m a part of a problem just because I belong to an opposing political party. Democrat’s believe each other without questioning and that’s why systemic racism is a political war cry. Republicans question each other before being convinced by more than political persuasion.

Democrats and their supporters have prescribed few-to-no solutions to systemic racism. If really a problem and so pervasive, why didn’t the last Democrat administration address it using their congressional majority? Why didn’t Democrats demand the previous Republican administration thwart it? One reason is that I was right, and it’s a Democrat election ploy!
