We need a climate champion
Climate change is an existential threat to New Hampshire’s future. As governor, Chris Sununu has actively worked to halt climate action by vetoing numerous clean energy bills, calling them “crony capitalism”. This choice of words is especially interesting, considering Sununu receives large sums of money from companies who profit from increasing our state’s dependence on fossil fuels.
With climate looming large in this election, the choice for who should replace our climate change denying governor is an important one. Fortunately, the choice is easy. Andru Volinsky is a climate leader whose leadership will allow us to not only catch up to but surpass our New England neighbors. I am not the only one that knows Volinsky is the climate candidate. Numerous climate groups have endorsed Andru, including the Sierra Club, local Sunrise Movement chapters, NH Youth Climate Strike, and both the national and NH branches of 350.
Volinsky’s priorities on climate speak for themselves. Within the first 30 days in office, he has pledged to create an agency focused on climate issues, which will work with citizens to develop a comprehensive Climate Action Plan. No other candidate has made direct feedback from NH citizen activists so central to their climate plan. On top of this, Volinsky has set the bold and necessary goal of making NH carbon-neutral by 2030. He also supports a regional Green New Deal and was steadfast in his opposition to the now-cancelled Granite Bridge Pipeline, making him the only candidate standing on the right side of history. We need a courageous climate champion as governor. Join me in voting Volinsky on Sept. 8.
