Vote for Andru Volinsky

By Douglas Whitbeck - Mason | Aug 8, 2020

I’m sure you’ve noticed the recently soaring temperatures. This trend follows predictions of what to expect from climate change. If we disregard these warnings, rising temperatures won’t be our only concern.

So why did so many NH legislators support Liberty Utility’s ill-conceived (and now cancelled) Granite Bridge project, even when the Public Utilities Commission’s consultants said Liberty had not fully considered all of our options to meet our future energy needs? Several notable groups testified against the project, including the New Hampshire Office of the Consumer Advocate.

Now Liberty has another project planned which, if approved, will further increase NH’s dependence on fracked gas. The time to expand our fossil fuel reliance is past. We can and MUST do better. We need to pursue more climate-friendly options — improved energy efficiency, solar, and wind. Heat pumps offer a realistic alternative for keeping NH homes warm, and they offer good-paying local jobs instead of sending our energy dollars out of state.

As a member of the Executive Council, Andru Volinsky is a watchdog for countless issues of importance to NH citizens, including energy policy, education, and exactly where our money is going. He’s the only candidate for governor that opposed Granite Bridge and who hasn’t taken money from fossil fuel corporations. He understands NH’s economic future lies with clean energy jobs. NH needs a governor who takes bold, fact-based action. Join me in voting for our climate. Vote for Andru Volinsky.
