Biden does not want to defund police

By Bill Barry - Manchester | Aug 8, 2020

“No, I don’t support defunding the police,” Joe Biden said unequivocally when asked during a recent interview with CBS News. Still, the Trump campaign is working to make the opposite case here in New Hampshire. My message to voters is simple: don’t buy it. It’s an attempt to divert our attention away from the President’s bungled response to the coronavirus pandemic that has claimed more than 154,000 lives and has left 30 million of our fellow Americans unemployed. And it’s an obvious attempt to drive a wedge between New Hampshire voters.

As a law enforcement officer, I have had the honor of working with some of the brave men and women here in New Hampshire to respond to some of the biggest challenges facing our state, like the opioid crisis that has torn too many families apart and the issue of homelessness in our communities. What I can tell you is that throughout his career, Joe Biden has always recognized first responders as essential, and to suggest the opposite is disingenuous.

In reality, Joe Biden wants to make common sense reforms to our criminal justice system to save lives. He’s a leader presenting real solutions to improve the safety of our communities for all Americans.

We cannot afford these distractions from the Trump campaign. Instead, we need solutions and leadership from the President of the United States. We need solutions to the pandemic that continues to devastate our communities and our economy and solutions to improve our nation’s criminal justice system.
