The irony of Trump’s new strategy

By Noel Friedman - Merrimack | Jul 25, 2020

As he falls further behind Biden, Trump has come up with what his staff considers a winning strategy. Rather than responding to the nation’s Governors and Mayors for help with the Covid Pandemic. He is responding by attacking the Constitution’s first amendment’s clause:

“Right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Against the wishes of the Mayor and Governor, this “law and order” president has sent federal thugs to Portland, Oregon. They have no visible identification and are unconstitutionally detaining, without charges, folks, for exercising their first amendment rights. His goal is to incite a violent response. It’s a thinly veiled attempt to distract the American voter from his abject failure to handle the Pandemic.

One can only hope that in November voters will see through this odious ploy from the liar-in-chief.
