In the history of America, there have been five times where the electoral college overrode popular vote in the elections. Of those five times, two of them have happened in the past two decades. This is not democracy. We can change this. Right now, there is a movement going on for a National Popular Vote, in which rather than an electoral college deciding who wins on a state by state basis, the winner of each state is decide based on who won the vote in that state. This system will ensure that the party with the most votes will win the election and not by people who could choose to ignore popular vote. Things need to change or our votes won’t matter. Let us be the country we are supposed to be.
