Vote for our future

By Anna Rose Marion - Rye | Jul 11, 2020

Three major crises confront us today. The pandemic has taken over 130,000 lives in the US to date. Current unemployment surpassing Great Depression levels exacerbates economic inequality, and average Americans struggle to access quality healthcare, affordable housing, and job security. Outrage over police brutality against Black people has reached a fever pitch.

In the midst of an election year and the climate crisis, it is imperative that you vote for leaders who will fight to dismantle the root cause of these crises – the systemic devaluation of life in a profit-driven society. I am too young to vote, so I need you to vote to protect my future before it is too late.

These crises create the opportunity to design our ideal new normal. We must develop an equitable and sustainable economy centered around the priorities of workers and minority communities by generating good-paying jobs.

To accomplish this long term goal we need to start now by voting for politicians who commit to enacting these goals and who are accountable to their constituents, not purchased by industry. Register to vote and encourage your friends and family to register to vote by visiting your town clerk’s office or website. Be sure to request absentee ballots or show up for the September 8 primaries and November 3 general election. Visit vote.org for more information. If we continue down the same destructive path, we will endanger my future and the future of all young people.
