Nov. 3 can’t come soon enough

By Joe O’Neill - Amherst | Jun 20, 2020

The November 3 general election can’t come soon enough for us to rescue our country and our state. At the national level, the general ineptitude of the current president is appalling. Loss of more than 100 thousand lives, with more to follow, unfortunately, due to the administration’s mis-handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Inability to recognize/do anything positive about racial inequality – more black lives lost due to police over reaction. A ruined economy, all at the expense of the current president’s sole focus on being re-elected. Now we are the laughing stock of the rest of the world, when the rest of the world used to look to America for its values. Is this what America wants for the next 4 years? I hope not.

At the state level last year, the governor vetoed over 50 bills that sought to greatly improve many facets of NH life. Totally wiped out any/all bi-partisan agreements at the stroke of a pen. The entire legislative session vetoed away! This year, just this past week, the NH House tried to meet over at UNH and pass important legislation in this era of COVID-19. The Republican minority stymied the effort, totally wiping out this years’ legislative progress. Does NH want to continue of this path? I hope not. November 3 is a very important election at the national and state level. Be registered to vote, make sure you can vote, in person or by mail (absentee), but, by gosh, make sure you vote on Nov. 3!
