Trump, take responsibility
The president’s response to the current pandemic crisis has been strictly political and devoid of the executive responsibility that other presidents, both Republicans and Democrats, have taken during a national crisis.
This viral pandemic poses a national emergency where the federal government, not the states, is responsible for combating this threat by “an invisible enemy.”
In time of war, we don’t leave it up the states. Why now?
Many of our fellow citizens will lose their lives to this virus because the gederal government has not taken charge in providing sufficient PPE, respirators/ventilators and hospital beds.
The Trump Administration knew about this viral invader in early January. That’s when a federal task force should have been formed to create and implement a battle plan for testing and the provision of the PPE and other equipment to the needed states.
Taking responsibility is an obligation for everyone, and many of our fellow citizens are stepping up.
The doctors, nurses, EMTs and all of the health practitioners are Americans who are stepping up and exhibiting responsibility and model for the rest of us
Capt. Brett Crozier showed responsibility when he penned a letter telling about the virus that was invading his ship. Having served on aircraft carrier, I understand his concern. Six feet of separation aboard a carrier is impossible.
Relieving the captain of his command for reporting the virus casualties is example of Trump’s regard for those who don’t follow his political script.
Medical models are estimating that somewhere between 100,000 and 240,000 will die from the virus.
In late January, Peter Navarro, a Trump’s trade adviser, warned the White House that the virus could become a “full-blown pandemic,” risking trillions of dollars in economic losses and the health of millions.
Trump said on January 22, “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”
While I hope the models are wrong, his continued politicizing of this crises and his refusal to take personal responsibility as our chief executive are reasons that some of our fellow Americans will die.
