A shining light

By Rebecca Liubakka - Milford | Feb 3, 2020

The news these days is terrible. All over. I remember the Clinton impeachment and how it dominated the news. I compare it to today’s coverage, and the media can’t even begin to cover it with all due justice for fear we will miss something else. Burning kangaroos, a shooting here and there, rolls back of legislation we have taken for granted, helicopter crashes that take our breath away.

At a time when we have so much to consider, so much to choose, so many roads we must decide to travel, we need an executive who has served as a leader while living in darkness. We need someone who has chosen his country before himself. We need someone who has not made millions of dollars while riding the train. Someone who lives their life understanding the values of American people, not just East Coast elite.

Pete Buttigieg has done this. He has made sacrifices for his country and is ready to make more. We need a pure, driven American who knows what is in the heart of America, because he lives in the heart of America. There are no Ukranian deals, there have been no compromises of his ideals.

An executive does not have all of the answers. Let’s stop pretending they do. Executives lead the nation, the company, the family to their own destiny. They set the pace, the moral compass, the tolerance for hate and knowledge.

Mr. Buttigieg can do this. Not while hiding his hands behind his back. Not while lecturing other generations about their failings. Not while pushing a red team vs. a blue team.

Mr. Buttigieg has seen hate, and violence and disparity. He has been a leader while physically and mentally surrounded by these things. It is time to elect someone who has proven he is able to function while surrounded by the many distractions the enemy lays out.

Mr. Buttigieg is a shinning light ready to lead all of America. It is time that we, as Democrats, allow all of America to take him up on his offer.
