Disappointment and anger

By Jane Constant - Milford | Jan 12, 2020

New Hampshire Magazine just published and sent out a list of their calendar of events. I noticed one event in particular that was called “Elite PBR: Unleash the Beast,” which is being hosted at SNHU Arena in Manchester on Jan. 18-19.

When I read what this event was about, I experienced an overwhelming feeling of disappointment and anger with those who had agreed to allow this event to take place.

New Hampshire is unique in many ways, not only because its beautiful and offers residents so much, but because there are many people here who are very compassionate and caring to all animals, to include all domestic and wild. Bull riding has been recognized by PETA, ASPCA, GREENPEACE, and many other animal welfare and animal rights organizations as a SERIOUS FORM OF ABUSE. Bull riders often dope the bulls to give them an edge on winning the competition. A bull that is placed in extreme pain, such as when they receive shocks or when their testicles are tied and yanked to cause the desired bucking response, is a DESPICABLE FORM OF ANIMAL ABUSE AND CRUELTY.

No animal, domestic or wild, SHOULD EVER BE ON DISPLAY IN AN ARENA, WITH CROWDS WATCHING AND CHEERING ON, WHILE THESE ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING GREATLY. This is NOT ENTERTAINMENT at all.

We CANNOT HAVE THIS CRUELTY IN OUR GREAT STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE.

I’ve sent a letter of concern to U.S. Sens. Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen to make them aware of what is happening here in New Hampshire, and I hope that this event will NEVER take place here again.
