Nashua landfill issue

By Harrison Farry - Nashua | Apr 28, 2019

It was reported at the public hearing for the proposed expansion of the Nashua Landfill, “no residents spoke in favor or in opposition to the project.” My neighbors, who border the landfill, didn’t speak because we were not on notice by the town of the hearing. Now, the town writes Dear Resident, “Construction activities may result in temporary noise or odor impacts to our landfill neighbors.”

There already is temporary noise or odor impacts to our landfill neighbors. There already are EPA designated human “no go zones” of polluted wetlands surrounding the landfill. There already are flocks of seagulls soaring over open waste in the landfill.

There already are daughters like mine who visit our landfill neighbors and say, “Dad, this place stinks.” Dear neighbors in Woburn, Massachusetts, the Landfill Superfund Sites are still toxic and causing death, birth defects and more than $1 billion.
