In response to Mr. Bill Hooley’s letter regarding subsidizing solar, perhaps he did not realize that every taxpayer already is subsidizing the oil and gas industry, at a cost of about $10 billion each year. In addition to subsidizing the big oil companies, U.S. taxpayers are spending billions to clean up oil spills, fracking waste, coal mining disasters and disasters caused by climate change. Furthermore, why begrudge anyone for harnessing renewable energy and working toward a healthier and more sustainable planet, even if they also are getting subsidies? To save our earth, we need to work toward a fully renewable energy sourcing.
