Voting for the middle class

By Staff | Oct 31, 2014

Choosing a candidate is a perplexing exercise – unless you vote for the “party” candidate. The political ads have been biased sound bites of half-true information and full of attacks – no wonder some people don’t vote.

Our government has overreached its authority into social and moral issues which are better influenced through other means. Those issues are bipartisan, causing shut-down tactics to be implemented. By taxing the middle class, the very families taxed may be the ones who become needful of the services.

Government commitments are inconsistent and subject to change. Health insurance, a benefit of employment, is now mandated by our government – with employers and employees taxed and paying more in premiums and deductibles. Medicare and Social Security are contributory by employers and workers. The government has “borrowed” against the money set aside for that purpose and is now inadequately funded – leaving those on a fixed income to worry about costs and providers. Future workers may have to go without this “safety net” in retirement.

My thanks to The Telegraph for keeping voters informed. With your information, I will vote for those who rise above party affiliation, limit and preserve government commitments, have the capacity to protect and defend the Constitution and our country, and provide a tax environment which will generate more jobs so we can all support ourselves and restore the middle class for those working to live the American Dream.
