Havenstein will create jobs in NH

By Staff | Oct 31, 2014

Walt Havenstein was a dynamic, energetic, inspiring leader at BAE Systems. He introduced significant changes at the company by building consensus, synonymous with “reaching across the aisle.” These are the very qualities that are missing in politics today. I know he will bring that to Concord. His opponent labeled him a ”failed CEO.” How ludicrous. I worked under his leadership and he was a success. Our business grew and thrived because of it.

I moved here 30 years ago from Massachusetts. I never thought I’d stay, but grew to realize the New Hampshire advantage – quality of life, robust economy, high-end jobs, reasonable taxes and natural beauty. That is slipping away. I now see funding pressures on our schools, an unfriendly business environment and the burden of government overspending placed on businesses through high taxes. Our economy has fallen behind other states in the region. This is troubling because we have the resources and the people; we just need a leader in the governor’s office who can implement a clear vision for our state.

Two of my kids graduated from UNH. Both looked hard for good paying, challenging jobs in New Hampshire. I watched as both took jobs – in Massachusetts. Why? Because you go where the jobs are. I want the jobs for our young people to be in New Hampshire. I know Walt Havenstein will reinvigorate our economy like he did BAE. I believe in Walt’s plan to encourage business growth and create jobs – New Hampshire jobs.
