Gov. candidate turns to scare tactics
How sad that Republican candidate for governor, Walt Havenstein, having little to offer of his own accomplishments, has chosen to turn to scare tactics to discredit the stellar record of Gov. Maggie Hassan. Havenstein has accused Gov. Hassan of planning to raise taxes, an accusation certain to get the attention of many New Hampshire voters. Unfortunately for Mr. Havenstein, the accusation is false, as has been confirmed by Revenue Commissioner John Beardmore.
I understand that being behind 26 points in an election is scary, but spreading falsehoods is not the remedy for a failing campaign. Mr. Havenstein should stick with the truth and let New Hampshire voters choose their governor based on facts, not fabrications.
