Are you part of the health care solution or part of the problem?

By Staff | Nov 19, 2013

Watching how Republicans at the federal and state government levels are bashing the Affordable Care Act and obfuscating its implementation at all levels reminds me of that 1960s quote: “You’re either part of the solution or you’re part of the problem.”

Shouldn’t we offer affordable health care to our citizens? After all, more than 50 countries do just that, whereas the United States stands almost entirely alone among developed nations that lack universal health care. A nation is better off with healthy citizens.

The ACA is designed to offer affordable health care to all of our citizens. Sure, it has problems. But, shouldn’t we as a nation seek to fix those problems? What’s the alternative? Do nothing? I hope not. I urge everyone to write to Republicans at the federal and state levels of government and ask them: “Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?”
