Another chance for Republicans

By Staff | Oct 31, 2013

Isn’t it funny how the whole political landscape has changed in just a few weeks? It wasn’t supposed to be playing out like this. After standing firm on the government shutdown–debt ceiling debate, President Barack Obama was supposed to be out on the campaign trail hammering Republicans. This was going to soften up the opposition before the 2014 elections. But something came up at the most inopportune time. Obamacare.

If and when they fix the Obamacare website, millions more will get their chance to be outraged. This is like peeling a rotting onion. Every time you get past one layer, you find something else in the next layer to bring tears to your eyes. And just think how many more layers there are left to peel. Maybe next time they’ll read the bill before they pass it to see what’s in it.

So I ask, how can the Republicans fail to keep control of the House and possibly take the Senate under such a tsunami of bad news for Democrats in 2014. There is one answer. We have a new debt ceiling debate coming up in a few months after the holidays. Republicans should have learned by now to step out of the way when the opposition party is self-destructing. Republicans should not allow the focus to shift away from the Obamacare disaster while the media gets to change the subject to the debt debate. Let’s see how they handle it this time.
