Ayotte supports violence remedies
They would be mildly amusing if I thought that they weren’t serious. Mega media buys by out-of-state interests inject themselves, with curious logic, into New Hampshire affairs. The logic trap is the well known. If one is not in favor of a specific bill, no matter how pork laden, no matter how misnamed or misdirected, one must be for the problem the bill is said to remedy.
Anyone with any knowledge of problem solving knows that any remedy, in order to truly be a remedy, must address the cause of the problem. Emotional, knee-jerk “fixes” do not work. The common thread in recent gun violence has been mental illness. Sen. Ayotte has introduced and supported measures to take this into account in background checks. Her vote against feel good measures that do not take this into account is understandable. The temptation to do something, anything, in the face of a symptom is tempting. Thank you, Sen. Ayotte, for standing for effective, real remedies.
