Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

By Staff | Oct 15, 2022

Editor’s note: During the course of a week, issues are covered that might not lend themselves to full editorial comment, but they are worthy of The Sunday Telegraph weighing in – thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral.

Thumbs Up – To the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce for another successful event in its candidates series. Last week, incumbent U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan and retired Gen. Don Bolduc took part in a question-and-answer session at Nashua Community College. Hassan is facing Bolduc, a Republican, for one of the state’s U.S. Senate seats in the Nov. 8 election. Both candidates presented themselves well, Hassan focusing on her track record in the Senate, including accomplishments like her focus on legislation to stop surprise medical bills. Bolduc centered on reducing inflation and undoing policies – he viewed – as curbing the prosperity of the country. The Chamber’s candidate series is a great opportunity for local residents to come out and educate themselves on those who are on the Nov. 8 ballot. There are two events remaining in the series:

• The third event in the candidate series will feature the governor’s race, with Republican Gov. Chris Sununu and Democrat Dr. Tom Sherman participating. This event is set for 7:30-9 a.m. on Oct. 18 at Hampshire Hills.

• The final event of the series will be at LaBelle Winery in Amherst from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 and feature the U.S. House race, with incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster and Republican candidate Bob Burns attending.

THUMBS UP – To all involved with last week’s Milford Pumpkin Festival. The three-day event came off without a hitch, with beautiful weather and lots of fun greeting attendees. Attendance was strong, and the festival was expertly organized and executed. Looking forward to next year.

THUMBS UP – To St. Joseph Hospital, sponsors and volunteers who put together the hospital’s second Commit to Get Fit! run and walk last week. The event raised more than $85,000 for new ventilators in the pulmonary care unit.
