Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

By Staff | Oct 23, 2021

Editor’s note: During the course of a week, issues are covered that might not lend themselves to full editorial comment, but they are worthy of The Sunday Telegraph weighing in – thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral.

Thumbs Up – And congratulations to the Rotary Club of Nashua on hosting its 100th anniversary gala last week at the DoubleTree by Hilton. The well-attended affair celebrated the club’s history, and was made even more special by a Skype call with incoming Rotary International President Jennifer Jones. Jones will be the first female of Rotary International. The long-awaited gala – postponed by the pandemic – was attended by more than 200 Rotarians from several area clubs, including the Rotary Club of Nashua West, which is celebrating its 50th year. Capping off the night was when Rotarian Dr. Adrian Levesque Jr. was presented with a lifetime achievement award, just the third given out by the club in a century. Making the presentation was William H. Barry III. The Rotary Club of Nashua has done so much for our community, and is well-deserving of praise. We hope the community joins us in congratulating the club on this amazing milestone.

Thumbs UP – And more congratulations to another Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Nashua West on a successful Duck Derby. More than 8,500 small, rubber, yellow ducks were launched into the Nashua River Saturday, netting more than $37,000 that will benefit many local agencies. Certainly, another job well done that will have a positive impact on our community.

THUMBS UP – To United Way of Greater Nashua for a successful inaugural Cornhole for a Cause event last week at Millyard Brewery in Nashua. Several local companies and agencies came together to sponsor the event, which drew more than a dozens teams for a day of fun and frivolity.

THUMBS UP – To EBYL NH Community Center for a fun-filled Touch-A-Truck-Or-Treat event last week in Merrimack. The event was attended by more than 5,000 children of all ages.
