Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

By Staff | Jun 19, 2021

Thumbs Up – To all area graduates as they prepare to turn the page on their next endeavors. While we know the past two year have been made very difficult because of the pandemic, this year’s graduating seniors have handle it in stride. Thankfully, in-person graduations were possible this year, as the pandemic has waned, but the memories and experiences these young men and women have missed out on are innumerable. Best of luck and best wishes for whatever comes next. As Apple co-founder Steve Jobs said, “You’ve got to find what you love … keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

Thumbs DOWN – To drivers who fail to yield to emergency vehicles, especially on Main Street in downtown Nashua. We understand it is very difficult with the Jersey-style barriers in place; however, a delay in yielding for emergency personnel could potentially cause delays in response and possible loss of life. Please be courteous and do all you can to allow police, firefighters and ambulances through.

THUMBS UP – To Spirit Airlines on the announcement they will start serving Manchester-Boston Regional Airport on Oct. 7. The airline plans to offer nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa. Gov. Chris Sununu said residents “have been patiently waiting for a new airline” and the new flight options will give them a chance to “fly local.” Indeed it will, and just in time for those late vacations to warmer climates.

THUMBS UP – To Great American Downtown for all their efforts in bringing the Nashua Farmers Market to fruition. The market will kick off its season this week – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday – and run through Oct. 17. This year’s location in 229 Main St., alongside Nashua City Hall. Local produce, meats, honey, seafood, crafts and much more will be available.
