Last week, longtime New Hampshire legislator Marth Fuller Clark announced that she is retiring from elected office at the end of her current term.

Fuller Clark, a Democrat state senator, was first elected to that chamber in 2004, lost in 2010 and elected again in 2012. Before election to the Senate, she was a member of the House of Representatives for 12 year.

Representing Portsmouth and the Seacoast areas, she has made significant contributions to the Granite State for decades and is deserving of praise for her tireless efforts.

“It is clear that the next two years will be an extremely difficult but potentially exciting time in Concord as the legislature must struggle to come to terms with the challenge of finding new ways to address how we will all live, work and play as a result of the changes brought about by the COVID crisis and our weakened economy,” she said.

The road ahead is difficult, but with any luck an equally skilled citizen will step up to the plate and continue her work.
