$1,000 fine?

By Staff | May 23, 2020

The city of Nashua’s ordinance requiring residents to wear face masks in public places and complexes does carry a penalty for those who do not abide by the law.

Officials said a fine of up to $1,000 may be imposed on those in violation.

Steve Bolton, the city’s counsel, doubts that large of a penalty will be levied; however, it is possible under the law.

“It’s the exact same as throwing snow into the street,” Bolton said of ignoring the ordinance.

Let us hope that law enforcement officials keep a level head when – and if – they have to hand out citations.

While we are sure that will be the case, hopefully no one will tests that.
