Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

By Staff | May 9, 2020

Editor’s note: During the course of a week, issues are covered that might not lend themselves to full editorial comment, but they are worthy of The Sunday Telegraph weighing in – thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral.

Thumbs Up – once again – to the United Way of Greater Nashua for another successful endeavor. Last week, the organization spearheaded a community food drive, with 21 area stores participating. The event, which was a smash hit, benefitted 12 local food pantries and animal shelters. Thanks go out to the United Way and all participating stores and volunteers. Thanks to this effort, our neighbors in Greater Nashua will be able to obtain much-needed food for their families.

THUMBS DOWN to Mother Nature for throwing us yet another curve ball with the pending winter storm today. If COVID-19 wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of locals, snow certainly is. Let’s hope the weather warms and stays that way so we all may enjoy the outdoors until the pandemic subsides.

THUMBS UP to the many local businesses, organizations and officials who continue to donate personal protective equipment and other items to front-line workers. Many of their stories are included in today’s edition of The Sunday Telegraph. We can’t say enough about those involved and the real difference they are making in Greater Nashua and the Souhegan Valley.

THUMBS DOWN to state officials for continuing to bicker about the distribution of federal aid to those in the Granite State. These funds are desperately needed, and the sooner they are given out, the better off we all will be.

THUMBS UP to teachers throughout the area for continuing to organize drive-by parades and events for their students. Several happened again this week, showing how much our educators truly care about their students.
