Extraordinary efforts

By Staff | May 1, 2020

Without the continued support of the United Way of Greater Nashua, the city and our community would not be able to succeed and continue to thrive. Now more than ever, as we all face the uncertain challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, the UWGN is providing support and resources for many individuals and organizations to continue to flourish and grow.

On Saturday, May 2, the UWGN will help support 12 different food pantries and animal shelters by teaming up with 21 different local grocers for a food drive. During that time, shoppers at these stores can purchase an nonm-perishable item or two in the store for a donation. Those items will be used stock pantry shelves throughout Southern New Hampshire.

Most of the stores will be local ‘mom and pop’ stores, who may have been specifically impacted by the pandemic.

Additionally, the UWGN will honoring moms with a special delivery on May 12. Once again, the UW has partnered with UPS for their Mother’s Day Roses for Local Homeless Moms initiative. Understanding that every mom should experience that unique joy, the UW, with the help of UPS, who coordinated with an outside vendor, the Mother’s Day roses are delivered to the organization, and are then distributed to The Front Door Agency, Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire, Marguerite’s Place, Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, Harbor Homes, Keystone Hall, Bridges and Mary’s House.

Through extraordinary efforts such as these, the UWGN offers a spark of hope to those who are in need or are alone, whether it be due to the ripple effects of the coronavirus or a simple statement of showing that the organization cares. Think of it as being practical for the soul.
