Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down for April 5, 2020

By Staff | Apr 5, 2020

Editor’s note: During the course of a week, issues are covered that might not lend themselves to full editorial comment, but they are worthy of The Telegraph weighing in – thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral.

Thumbs up to the Nashua Lions Club for announcing the recognition of all Nashua teachers, police officers, AMR, firefighters and public health employees as their 2020 Employees of the Year. The honors typically go to individuals; however, in light of the COVID-19 crisis, club officials are honoring the groups as a whole for their sacrifices in keeping us all safe.

Thumbs down to the non-essential businesses who still are opening their doors to customers. While we realize this is a difficult time for everyone – especially businesses – we all must act responsibly and do our part to flatten the curve. This will only help shorten the duration of the stay-at-home orders and keep all area residents safe.

THUMBS UP to Gov. Chris Sununu for his continued positive actions in helping the Granite State get through the COVID-19 crisis. Throughout this ordeal, Sununu has led New Hampshire with a steady hand, always having what’s best for the state in mind when making key decisions. Thank you, Gov. Sununu.

THUMBS UP to those working in restaurants and grocery store for their continued efforts in keeping us fed and stocked with essentials.

THUMBS DOWN to those who still are hoarding toilet paper, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies and some foods. The unfortunate fact is because of the hoarders, some – including our most vulnerable – are having to go without essential supplies. Please be considerate of others and only purchase what you need.

THUMBS UP to those who are coming up with creative ideas to brighten people’s day during this global health crisis. Some have hung Christmas lights, others have put bears out and some even have developed scavenger hunts and other games so people can having something to pass the time. Well done, and keep the ideas coming.
