Thomas Gerard Larose
Thomas Gerard Larose, 71, passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2026 while enjoying the beauty and comfort of the mountains in Lamoine, Maine.
Born on March 31, 1955, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Tom was the son of Collette Lepage Larose Mall and Jean Thomas Larose, known as Curly. Tom’s grandfather was Joseph Larose, who founded the Modern Restaurant in Nashua.
Although Tom was a vegetarian, he shared his grandfather’s love of food when he opened Vital Vittles, one of New Hampshire’s early health food stores. The business later developed into Larose’s Market and Restaurant, where many still remember Tom’s specialty: a most delicious tempeh Reuben sandwich.
Thomas began his education at the former St. Francis School on French Hill. He went on to graduate from Bishop Guertin High School, where Tom was known as a formidable debater. Music, however, was at the heart of his life. He learned to play the piano as a boy, which began a lifelong love affair with many forms of music. Tom was especially captivated by the eclectic style of The Grateful Dead and became a devoted Deadhead, attending perhaps over a hundred of their concerts. Along the way, Thomas acquired the nickname “Toomuch!”
Family was everything to Tom. No matter the distance, he made it a priority to stay connected with his children and his brothers – whether through phone calls and texts, or frequent visits while spending countless miles on the road. Tom, known as “Pepe” to his grandchildren, believed deeply in forgiveness and he led with love. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Tom was happiest when sharing music, a meal, a good story, and a competitive game of cribbage with the people he loved.
Thomas leaves behind the mothers of his children, including sons Adam Larose and Jean Philip Larose; daughter Tahlia Larose and her partner Jesse Lynch; and Tom’s good friend Jason Payne; as well as grandsons Myles Larose, Niko Lynch, and Veda Lynch, and granddaughter Aurora Lynch. Predeceased by his sister Jeanne Larose, Thomas is survived by four brothers: Michael Larose of Texas, Jonathan Larose of California, Peter Larose of New York and Christopher Larose of California; along with many cousins and nieces and nephews, and their children.
A memorial celebration will occur on November 1, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Alpine Grove in Hollis, NH. We hope you will join us as we come together to celebrate Tom’s life. Please RSVP via email by October 30 to ThomasLaroseMemorial@gmail.com
